Grade 10 Work Experience

It has been a great pleasure for many staff members to spend time visiting class members of Grade 10A and B who are completing their Work Experience. All of the boys have represented themselves and the College with great distinction. It has been fantastic to see how many boys are enthused by the opportunity and we expect to see increased motivation from the boys on their return to classes.

Grade 7 Tree Planting

27-07-2016 133828

This week each Grade 7 class has had the opportunity to meet with Mr Mark ‘Bushy’ Smith to participate in a tree planting ceremony as part of National Tree Day. The purpose for the planting is to mark the beginning of the study that Grade 7s will be looking at across a number of curriculum areas for our integrated unit on Rights and Responsibilities, including:

  • English: Film Study:  The Lorax (man’s impact on the environment)
  • Science:                         Ecosystems
  • Geography:                  Water as a resource

A Highlight of this study will be a day long excursion which begins at Fern Tree and following the Pipeline Track down to the Water Works. More information will be sent home soon about this exciting hands-on learning experience.

University of Tasmania Open Day
The annual University of Tasmania Open Days will be held on Sunday August 7 from 10am to 3pm.  Open Day is your best chance to talk face-to-face with lecturers, current students, graduates and course advisors who can give an insight into the wide range of courses UTAs offer. You can also find out about admission, accommodation, scholarships and careers.  More information can be found online at http://info.utas.edu.au/open-day or there is advertising material in the College Library.
