Welcome back to Term 4!
We trust everyone had a relaxing break. We are looking forward to what will be a very busy final term, with many events, activities, and a lot of learning to be done.
Parents & Friends Meeting
The P & F committee met last night at the Junior School. We are investigating some outdoor furniture and potential play equipment for all the boys to enjoy. Thank you to all committee members for their input.
Children’s Book Week
Next week is Children’s Book Week and the theme is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’. We have planned a dress up parade for Tuesday October 20. Boys are welcome to bring in a costume to suit the theme and one that is connected to a children’s book. There will be a time to change into their costume at school and a parade will take place at 11.20am. This is a great opportunity to highlight the value and enjoyment of reading for all our boys. An Edsmart broadcast will be sent out today.
Footy Colours Day
On Wednesday October 21 we are having our annual footy colours day. In return for a gold coin donation, boys can bring in a jumper or costume for any sporting code and change into this at school to wear for the day. The SRC will meet to decide on the best charity to donate funds raised.
Our Junior School Captain, Jack Byrne, came up with the great idea of creating show bags which will be available for purchase for $5. We met with Jack, Lachlan Cannan, Mrs Moate and Mrs Leon, to get the ball rolling to make up some interesting and fun show bags. A note will be sent out on parent paperwork with the details and a request to pre-order so we know how many bags to pack. Some of the items will include fairy floss, chocolates, slime, yo-yos and other knick-knacks.
Ten of the bags will contain a Village Cinema voucher and if you purchase a show bag you could be the lucky winner of a voucher! The SRC will also decide how to use funds raised through this activity.
Football Margin Tickets
A reminder that we still have football margin tickets for this year’s AFL Grand Final. This is a fundraiser for the P and F. Tickets cost $20 but could win you $500 if your ticket is the correct margin for the end of the game. There are also three amounts of $100 up for grabs as well if you have the correct margin at the end of each quarter. Tickets are available for purchase from the Junior School office.
Term 4 sport will commence in Week 2. We have Grade 3&4 in Teeball on Tuesday afternoons, and Grade 5&6 participating in both Indoor Cricket on Monday and Touch Football on Wednesday afternoons. Rosters will be sent out via EdSmart.
SVC Grade 5&6 and 3&4 Basketball teams have been selected and training will commence in Week 2. Our boys are very keen to play and take in the wealth of knowledge our coaches have in their lead up to the competition. The Regional Basketball Championships are being held at the Kingborough Sports Centre and the Moonah Sports Centre over the first weekend of November.

Coach Brett Harris would like to thank the boys for making his job such a pleasure !
The boys may not have won every game they played, but displayed excellent team work, sportsmanship and perseverance meant that they ended each game as the victors. Brett was especially impressed with the way the boys each took a role on the court and contributed: Charles and Jacob were monsters on rebounding and had a heap of steals, JB and Jamie were everywhere on defence and caused lots of turnovers, and Jack, George and Louis were a shooting dream team. Brett said “It was an honour to coach such a great group of young men” and he wishes them all the best for Term 4.
