Welcome all to the final week of Term 2. I’m sure we would all agree it has been an interesting term, full of challenges. However, with hard work, commitment and flexibility shown by all staff and students, there have also been great learning opportunities and positive achievements.
Supporting our friends at Mary Rice
Last week many of the classes learnt about the Mary Rice Centre, Kibera, Nairobi and Kenya. The boys were able to look at the many photos from the last two Kenya Immersion trips and see our Year 9&10 boys and staff meeting and sharing many amazing moments with our friends at the Mary Rice Centre. From the posters the boys created and the response to the fundraising effort, it is obvious they have a better insight into life at the MRC as well as the important relationship SVC has with them and the support we are able to give. The generosity of the Junior School boys and their families came to the fore and we raised $683 in that one day, which Mr Waddington will give to Br Gerald in order to purchase much needed food items for the children and families of the MRC. The messages of hope on the posters the JS boys created were heartfelt and impacted our friends on a very deep level. Thank you everyone for your support of and interest in getting to know more about our friends at the MRC.
Student Free Day
Please remember that this Friday (July 3) is a student free day for all boys at the College.
Statement of Progress Reports
Teachers have finalised the Statement of Progress Reports and these will be released this afternoon. When you have read your son’s report you may wish to book a Parent,Student and Teacher conference time. These will be held on Monday July 20 at the Junior School in your son’s classroom. Your son’s teacher may have also requested an interview. This is a great opportunity to meet and discuss progress, as well as any areas that your son may need to concentrate on next term.
Mid-Year Virtual Assembly
Miss Daun and Grade 5&6 have been working hard to put together our virtual assembly for the end of term. Classes will be watching it today and parents will be sent a link to also view it. The assembly will include a prayer; class awards and our School Spirit Award for each class; the announcement of House points for the week and the Term; a message from Mrs Messer and Mrs Chambers and some other items.
The winning House team will enjoy a Pizza Party at lunch today, so the boys will be eager to know the results. Thank you, Miss Daun, for creating this wonderful assembly.
