Athletics Triumph!

In an inspiring display the 55 young men that represented St Virgil’s College at the Southern SATIS Athletics Carnival at the Domain Athletics Centre demonstrated true SVC spirit.  After 6 weeks of hard work at training the boys collectively put in a team performance that was nothing short of outstanding and simply blew all opposition away.

The result of this team performance saw SVC win all four Junior Boys Age Group Pennants (U13, U14, U15, U16) which culminated in a stirring defence of the Overall Junior Boys Shield!

There were lots of individual winners, placegetters and PBs set, but a highlight of note was the U16 4x100m Relay (George McLeod, Jack Lewis, Cameron Mann and Lincoln Arnold) winning in a record time of 44.62, eclipsing the previous record of 44.90 set by a SVC team back in 1988.

The performance has certainly built momentum ahead of the State SATIS Athletics Carnival in Launceston on Saturday September 21.

Special mention and thank you to all coaching staff including Sam Morey, James Dalton, Annale Van Heerden, Kelly Dixon, Graeme Rainbow, Steve Aitken, Dan Sulzberger, Mark Beck and Rosie Coleman. Thanks also to Kevin Anders and Jason Moles who helped with event set up and pack up.
