The Great Australian Cross Country Challenge - Senior School Run Friday May 22!

St Virgil's College has signed up to be part of the Great Australian Cross Country Challenge (GACCC) and we would like to strongly encourage all students and the wider SVC community to get involved! With our school cross country events postponed/cancelled due to the COVID isolation restrictions, this new competition will enable you to race solo or with friends and family and record your results virtually!

Students who register will be eligible to win points for their House (separate Junior and Senior tallies), win ASICS sporting gear or vouchers and will enjoy the benefits of keeping fit and staying connected to other students during isolation.

This Friday May 22, senior school students will run a cross country at multiple locations across Hobart.

To be part of it simply register and download the App as follows:

  • The parent/guardian must create the free Race Roster account (via the registration button on the GACCC website) in the first instance and by using the free promo code - SVC.
  • Once this account has been created, navigate to the registration page and follow the prompts to register for the event.
  • When in the registration form, there are two options (Register Myself or Register Someone Else).
  • Simply click Register Someone Else and fill in the form with the students details as previously advised and use the free promo code - SVC.

By doing this, it essentially creates a parental account in which the students are then linked too, thereby adhering to privacy and age consent policies.

This process may also encourage more parents and guardians to participate along with the students since they will be registered as well.

Further, should any student have issues with downloading the RunKeeper App or any other fitness tracker App due to their age, the student should simply use an App downloaded under a parents/guardians name, screen shot the final results (including map) and upload to the students account.

We trust this clarification assists with getting as many of our boys registered and participating for St Virgil's College and their House in the Great Australian Cross County Challenge.
