Strike for Climate Change
This week all year levels have been presented with information relating to next Friday’s Climate Change action scheduled for Hobart. All members of the College community have been sent a Parent Paper work in relation to what they want their son to participate in that day. I encourage all boys to sit down with their parents and have an informed discussion about their options for the day. As noted in the Parent Paperwork all classes will run as normal during the day.
Student Leadership Workshops
All Grade 9s interested in a Student Leadership position in 2020 have been invited to take part in a series of workshops designed to focus the boy’s attention on what skills they have, and what they need to continue to develop for successful leadership.
We will start the selection process for next year’s Student Leaders in the near future.
Boys in Core E and F are out on work experience this coming week. Students from C and D core groups were out last week, and we have had wonderful reports back from the students and their host employers about some of the fantastic learnings and experiences the boys are having in a real work setting.
The annual Pastoral Care Futsal tournament has started with games running most lunch times through to the end of term. Second round and finals will be played early in Term 4.
RYDA Driver Awareness Day
Grade 10s will be taken to the Show Grounds on Friday September 13 to complete the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness programme. Boys are to bring their own lunch, although there will be a sausage BBQ available for $2 a sausage. The programme is an important step in each student’s progress towards being responsible drivers in the future.
St Paul’s Choices
Students from St Paul's and St Brigid’s will join us for the remainder of the term, on Thursday afternoons, to experience some of the activities the College has to offer. This programme is designed to reduce some of the anxieties of the transition from Grade 6 to Grade 7. Last week the students were challenged with our climbing wall. This week Mr Ellis conducted some exciting experiments in the Science rooms.
