Change in Start Time for Senior School New Parent Information Session

Written by Administrator St Virgil's College. Posted in News

St Virgil’s College is a very busy school and proudly part of the wider Hobart community and as such we recognise the importance to many of our families of events such as this Thursday’s Hobart Hurricanes final at Blundstone Arena. The game features Old Virgilian Caleb Jewell highlighting our connection to the Hobart sporting community.

The game commences at the same time as the scheduled start time for our New Parent Information Night (7.30pm) and I appreciate that this may cause a dilemma for many parents who enjoy attending such events as a family. I am always amazed how many parents and students I see at such games but also recognise that many parents and students have little interest in this event.

In addition, on Thursday after school we have over 70 of our Grade 7s participating in basketball trials from 3.30pm to 4.45pm at Austins Ferry. If we keep the starting time for the Information Session at 7.30pm, many parents would have to quickly take their son home and then drive back to Austins Ferry.

To accommodate these events we have decided to re-schedule the New Parent Information Night to 5pm in the Joyce Performance Centre at Austins Ferry. The evening will conclude by 6pm. Information provided on the night will be emailed to all parents. Students will be supervised in the gym from 5pm-6pm or can sit with parents in the JPC?

Please note that a reminder of the change of time will be communicated via Parent Paperwork, Facebook, SVC Push Notification and Instagram.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Yours faithfully
