The 2024 ATAR results are in, and we couldn’t be prouder of the remarkable accomplishments of our Year 12 cohort, with 94 % of students wanting to achieve an ATAR doing so. Every student’s hard work and persistence throughout the year is commendable, and we also want to acknowledge the exceptional teachers at St Virgil's College, whose guidance and support have been instrumental in helping these young men reach their full potential.
The following students achieved exceptional ATARs of 95 or above, placing them in the top 5% of students nationally:
Charles Lennon
Charles is a student who embodies the values of leadership, dedication and community spirit. As College Vice Captain, Charles demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, taking on responsibilities that enhanced the culture of the School all the while leading others as a strong role model. He approached his duties with maturity and a strong sense of commitment. Charles excels in personal relationships and works diligently in his academic pursuits; his final results are a testament to his hard work and dedication.
Thomas Marr
Thomas is an outstanding student who has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership skills as College Captain. Thomas achieved the highest TASC ratings for the following subjects studied in 2024 - Business Studies 3, Food and Nutrition 3 and Sport Science 3. This is a testament to his incredibly hard work. He has consistently aimed to support others, create a positive environment, and be someone his peers could approach and trust.

Oscar Brewer
Oscar is an outstanding student who exemplifies academic excellence and exceptional dedication to his studies. He has excelled in some of the most challenging subjects offered, including Mathematics Specialised 4, Chemistry 4, Physics 4, and Engineering Design 3, demonstrating his remarkable intellect, determination, and capacity for critical thinking. Oscar’s work ethic is truly exceptional, setting him apart as a model of discipline and perseverance, tackling complex problems with a methodical and innovative approach.
Liam Wighton
Liam is a thoughtful and considerate student who has chosen a challenging academic program, including Mathematics Methods 4, Biology 3, Chemistry 4, and Outdoor Leadership 3. His choice of subjects reflects his willingness to push himself academically and his determination to succeed. Liam approaches his studies with focus and maturity, consistently showing a steady and reliable work ethic. He demonstrates perseverance in tackling complex topics and is respectful, polite, and dependable.

Overall, 24% of students obtained an ATAR of 90 or above, placing them in the top 10% of students nationally.
30 % of students received an ATAR higher than 80, placing them in the top 20% of students nationally.
These impressive results reflect the incredible effort and commitment shown by all students throughout the year. We congratulate each one of them for their perseverance and hard work.
Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (TASC) Subject results
93% of our Year 12 students qualified for the Tasmanian Certificate of Education.
There were 204 enrolments in TASC subjects. 84% received a Satisfactory Achievement (SA) or more. Of our Year 11 students looking to meet the requirements of the TCE, 100% met the Literacy Standard and 84% the Numeracy Standard by the end of Year 11.
The median score for pre-tertiary subjects studied by our students were greater than the Tasmanian average for Business Studies, Engineering Design, English, General Mathematics, Mathematics Specialised and Physical Sciences.
Our students received a Commendable Achievement (CA) or more in a greater proportion than across the State in the pre-tertiary subjects Business Studies, Engineering Design, Mathematics Specialised, Physical Sciences, Studies in Religion and Sport Science.
Of our Year 10 students who studied Mathematics Methods Foundation 3 and sat the external examination, 53% received a CA or more.

We recognise that 100% of our students received Tertiary Entrance scores for the University Connections Program subject of Foundation Practical Study, with two students, Massimo Rigoli and Connor Churchill being accepted by the University of Tasmania Conservatorium of Music for tertiary study commencing in 2025.
100% of our students who applied for study under the Schools Recommendation Program were accepted by the University of Tasmania. Courses included Law, Exercise and Sports Science, Engineering, Business, Education, Science, Nutrition Science, Psychological Science, Social Work, Nursing, Biomedicine and Music.
Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs
As well as TASC subjects, St Virgil’s College provides the opportunity for students to work towards nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications. 100% of students who commenced a VET qualification with the intention of gaining a full certificate did so. 67% of Year 11 commenced at least one VET qualification in 2024, 44% of these students commenced or completed two qualifications.
