We teach boys who will become men, preparing them for a future they will help form. St Virgil's College is Tasmania's only primary and secondary Catholic school exclusively for boys.

Boys at St Virgil's College can expect to be challenged to achieve personal excellence in an environment suited to the particular needs of boys. Boys will be encouraged to participate fully in an extra-curricular programme that presents students with boundless opportunities in sport, the arts and service.

The curriculum is designed to develop mind, body, spirit and confidence in ways that honour the uniqueness of each of student, whilst developing caring and responsible attitudes to all around them.

We are a learning community where students and staff work together to develop understanding and skills in life long learning.

MCG 4

Senior School

The secondary school campus occupies 30 hectares of developed grounds and bushland on the banks of the River Derwent at Austins Ferry, 16 kilometres north of Hobart. It has a range of first class specialist facilities including science rooms, ICT Labs, music rooms, art rooms, wood and metal work labs, library, food technology centre and the spectacular Joyce Performing Arts Centre.

The campus utilises the natural environment and incorporates a 6km mountain bike track, a labyrinth and a reflective space inspired by the traditional Aboriginal custodians of the site.

St Virgil’s offers an environment that provides not only outstanding facilities and physical settings but one in which boys are safe, respected and valued and supported in achieving personal excellence in all endeavours.

Some parts can be hired out such as the Joyce Performing Arts Centre. Please contact Mark Waddington, Director of Development for more information.
