Vol. 7, Ed.20 6th July 2020

From the Acting Principal

The Charter for EREA schools provides us at St Virgil’s College with a practical road map to how we express our identity, and is crucial for use in our decision-making, planning and review of College operations. In simple terms it “keeps us honest”. Within the Charter is a set of touchstones which give us a guide to the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice which underpins the ministry in our school and our educational endeavours. They help us set our direction and define our goals.

This Friday while the boy commence their mid-year holidays, the staff of the College will spend the day reflecting and seeking to make the Gospel a living reality in our community, with the understanding that faith formation experiences are fundamental components of a Catholic School curriculum.

I hope parents have had the opportunity to review their son’s report through the Parent Access Module (PAM). Reporting represents a means to strengthen the relationship between boys, teachers and students. They should offer a summary of achievement so far, strengths and weaknesses, and importantly a pathway to future learning.

To support the reporting process both Junior and Senior campuses will have student free days on the first day of Term Three, Monday July 23 to allow for Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews. We look forward to seeing you then.

Service in Action

We wish the staff and students of our Immersion programme our very best wishes as they head off to Nairobi in Kenya to immerse themselves in the service of others through a range of missions conducted by the Christian Brothers. Perhaps most significant will be spending time with the extraordinary people of the Mary Rice Centre.
