From the Acting Principal

In 2004, the Province Leaders of the Christian Brothers in Australia proclaimed the Charter for Catholic Schools in the Edmund Rice Tradition,a document that captured the character and culture of their schools, including St Virgil’s College.

The Charter provides a practical expression of our identity and so is of crucial use in decision making, planning and review. The Charter uses four 'touchstones' to describe the culture of an authentic Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition:

• Liberating Education

• Gospel Spirituality

• Inclusive Community

• Justice and Solidarity

These touchstones underpin the ministry and educational endeavours in Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) schools. They help us set our direction and define our goal to make the Gospel a living reality in our communities. In simple terms they keep us honest.

Please enjoy reading about the many ways in which the deeds and words of our boys provide an authentic expression of the touchstones of the Charter.

In the spirit of Blessed Edmund,

Terry Blizzard
Acting Principal
