Vol. 8 Ed. 16 14th July 2020

From the Principal

A reminder that enrolment applications for the Junior School close on June 30. If you, or anyone you know, would like to look at the facilities on offer at the Patrick Street campus, there is a Principal’s Tour happening on Wednesday June 12 from 9.00 to 10.30am.

Upcoming Principal’s Tours at Austins Ferry are scheduled for Friday June 21, July 26 and August 30. Bookings for tours at either campus can be made by emailing mnugent@stvirgils.tas.edu.au

Mary Rice Day

Tomorrow each student will receive their sponsorship form for the walkathon being held on Mary Rice Day - Friday June 28.  I encourage all the boys to dig deep and support our friends over in Nairobi. On June 28 the boys will participate in a day of activities, liturgy, prayer, music and song. The St Virgil’s community will enjoy a Kenyan style lunch of beans, rice and mandazi; finishing the day with the walkathon.

Last Saturday was the official launch of the Mary Rice Centre Walkathon in Kibera with Br Amandi reflecting on the meaning of the term walk – walk beside me, not behind nor ahead. As the group of staff and students prepare for their trip to Kenya this year, I hope their walk beside those in the Mary Rice Centre is an enriching and meaningful experience.

 Community Football Luncheon

I invite all in the community who are available on Friday July 5 to book a table for the College Community Football Lunch being held at the Grand Chancellor. All proceeds for the lunch are donated to the Alex Gadomski Fellowship. Bookings can be made at
