A New Format for the Star!

Welcome to the updated College newsletter ‘The Star’. I trust that you enjoy the new format which is hopefully far more interactive and engaging and of course is more compatible with whatever device you are accessing our newsletter on.

For newer members of our community, the name of our newsletter ‘The Star’ is very significant. The Star’ was chosen because at the heart of our College crest is a star. The star reminds us that those who instruct many to justice shall shine like stars for all eternity (Dan. 12 : 13). The star is a symbol of enlightenment, guidance and instruction.

The star sits at the heart of a St Virgil’s College education and complements the other wording on our College crest. The Christian Brothers motto, ‘Facere et Docere’, translated means ‘To do and to teach’.  High quality learning and teaching is the key to providing boys with a liberating education. ‘By Deeds not Words’, is a reminder to all members of our community to be people of action who through their deeds model the teachings of Jesus of the Gospels and the example of Blessed Edmund Rice.

The College newsletter is an important source of information that keeps all members of our community up to date with College events and news and provides an excellent opportunity to acknowledge student activities and achievements. So please take the time to read and enjoy the new format for ‘The Star’ and tell us what you think!
