Vol. 7, Ed.24 14th July 2020

From the Principal

Over the past weeks I have been afforded the amazing opportunity by the College to spend some time on renewal and travel, tracing the footsteps of St Francis of Assisi through the hills of Italy.

This provided a wonderful opportunity for reflection on how fortunate we are to live where we live but highlighted to me the reality of how young our country is compared to many parts of our world. Exploring relics from the first century AD is hard to comprehend and allowed me to think of what life may have been like in Jesus’ time.

It was also poignant to visit the Edmund Rice Museum in Waterford and one of the Edmund Rice Schools in Ireland and quite surreal to bump into Sandy Bay parish priest Fr Brian Nichols in Italy ... it really is a small world!

As expected a return to St Virgil's means a return to the hectic pace of our community - we are blessed to have so many exciting events going on, all of which enrich the lives of our boys and greatly enhance their learning.

Please read on and find out about about some of these amazing events and experiences ...

I look forward to seeing students and parents at this evening's 2019 Grade 9&10 Subject Selection night from 7.30pm in the JPC.

In the spirit of Blessed Edmund,

 Damian Messer
